Social Gathering @ the Refuge PDX

On April 10, 2014, in Events, by admin

March 18th Social Gathering

Join us in welcoming Portland’s newest VFX collective – The Refuge!  Fully open for business and gears already turning full speed.  Lead Artists/Owners Fred Ruff & J Bills are excited to invite you out for a first hand look at how things are shaping up.  Great timing as I think we all can admit it’s been a long winter and it’s high time we came together for some casual liquid networking.

Open house from 6:30-9:00pm, Tuesday March 18th.  Nibbles and drinks courtesy of neighbors Occidental Brewery and Cathedral Park Kitchen.  A joint effort between 3DPDX, AEPDX, and VFX/PDX.

The Refuge is located under the St Johns Bridge in Cathedral Park Place, 6635 N Baltimore Ave, Suite 112.  Go down Baltimore Avenue, past what looks to be the main entrance and proceed to the bottom of the hill (across from the Chocolate Factory) to the Courtyard.  There is a separate sign and entrance to the Courtyard.  Park along the street or across the train tracks in the Cathedral Park parking lot.  The Refuge is in the NW corner of the Coutyard, past Occidental Brewing and the St Johns Cellars.

Avenge of the Zombies!

On June 2, 2013, in Events, by admin

It doesn’t get any better than this.

In this industry, some names almost need no introduction. Jeff White, Industrial Light and Magic Visual Effects Supervisor (and former Portlander), comes “home” to show us the Oscar nominated VFX work of The Avengers.

And as if that wasn’t enough, from Portland’s own LAIKA hails Visual Effects Supervisor Andrew Nawrot, kicking off the afternoon with a look at the VFX work from ParaNorman.

Many of you know that sometimes my meeting descriptions can get a little wordy – I’m happy to say this one pretty much speaks for itself. I’m as excited as you are. Register now (seating is limited), mark your calendars, and I’ll see you at the show!

Thanks to our amazing sponsors, this is a free event.
